The Association of Social Work Boards is controlled by its Delegate Assembly, a governing body comprising one Delegate and one Alternate from each member jurisdiction. Delegates meet during the ASWB Annual Meeting. Each member board gets one vote in the Delegate Assembly. The Delegate Assembly has specific powers reserved for it through the ASWB Bylaws but also has latitude to shape association policy and programs.
Board of Directors
The ASWB Board of Directors is elected by the Delegate Assembly and oversees the ongoing business of the association. The association has an 11-member board, of which six must be licensed social workers. Two directors must be public members of a member regulatory board and one director must be a current staff member of a member board. The association president must be a licensed social worker.
Staff at the association office is responsible for the daily operations of the association, from supporting volunteers and committee work to registering candidates for the licensing exam. The work of the staff is guided by the Board of Directors by way of the chief executive officer, and through policy.
