New Board Member Training is consistently one of ASWB’s most popular programs. This weekend training helps social work regulators prepare for their work as board members.
Sessions for 2017 are closed, but registration for 2018 will open in January.
Space and funds are limited, so we must go by a first-come, first-served policy. Priority will be given to new board members from jurisdictions that have not sent a member to a recent training.
“Awesome training. Helped me to feel more comfortable with my role as a board member. I walked away with a regulator hat on rather than the practitioner. Also, I was very impressed with the support offered to the Board. …This training has given me a new perspective and a more focused view on what I need to do as a regulator of the social work profession.”
The association will pay all expenses for one board member per jurisdiction, per meeting. All attendees must book their travel through Covington Travel, ASWB’s travel agency.
If you have more than one board member you would like to send to one of the sessions, please include a list of additional candidates and their preferred training dates. If space is available for additional participants, Melissa Ryder will contact you. Funding for additional participants will be determined on a meeting-by-meeting basis.
Topics to be covered during the training include the role and responsibilities of board members, the licensure examinations, political realities of boards, adjudication/discipline/enforcement, and other current regulatory issues.
After the participants are determined, they will receive additional information about the training session.
Please feel free to contact Melissa Ryder at the association office at 800.225.6880, ext. 3060, or by email at Melisa Ryder, if you have questions.
